Thing 5: The and Improved School....Maybe

As technology continues to expand and evolve a new endangered species is beginning to become apparent, the teacher. Sad and astounding at the same time, School 2.0 as coined by some embodies the new phase of education. What possibly can the internet do that a teacher cannot? The answer is a lot. A teacher cannot produce multimedia aids that only the internet can provide. Nor can a teacher be multiple places at one time that the internet can be thanks to the availability of computers. It is not the end of person to person education as a whole; it just means that the schools of the future will turn their gaze from textbooks to the ever expanding realm of internet knowledge. For in the end it is people who must decide what information is to remain or be removed from the internet to insure that only the facts and not baseless opinions pollute the minds of our impressionable youth.

  1. You bring up a good point here. It does sound like the teacher is vanishing from the school. I struggle to decide whether technology is beneficial or harmful. A little technology is good, but too much spells disaster. My history teacher, who is blind, relies on a technology as little as possible because he said that when something happens to the computers the teachers can't teach. Their whole lesson was dependent on that technology. I suppose what is needed is a healthy balance.
